By the time Sunday rolls around, I’m usually craving a reset.
I like to think of Sundays as my personal retreat. No fancy spa. No big to-do list. Just a handful of quiet rituals that help me feel a little more human again.
It usually starts with a candle. I’ll light something warm and earthy—maybe vanilla or something with a bit of woodsy sage. I make a cup of herbal tea, whatever I have on hand. Lately it’s been peppermint or chamomile. I sit with it, wrapped in a sweater or my cozy couch blanket and just breathe. No phone. No plans. Sometimes I stare out the window and watch the birds.
If I’m in the mood, I’ll do a bit of skincare. Nothing too involved. Maybe a mask or a longer cleanse. I’ll pull my hair back and take my time, massaging my face with a warm cloth or using my gua sha tool if I remember. It’s more about the feeling than the outcome. Like I’m taking care of myself in a way that doesn’t ask for anything in return.
At some point, I’ll open my journal. Not to plan or solve anything—just to check in. Sometimes I write down one word that I want to carry into the week. Other times it’s a little intention, like “This week, I want to move gently” or “I want to laugh more.” It doesn’t have to be deep. Just honest.
Later in the day, I’ll put on a something on youtube. And prep a few things for the week—nothing major. Maybe some roasted veggies, cooked quinoa, or overnight oats. If I’m low on energy, I might just wash some fruit and chop a few veggies to make Monday feel less rushed. It helps knowing there’s something ready in the fridge when I need it.
And that’s really it. My version of a mini retreat. It’s not perfect, and it changes week to week. But it always brings me back to myself.
